Howdy!
This blog is written by a small bunch of people who live in the vicinity of Brittas Bay. Brittas is a huge tourist attraction, and is possibly the most beautiful beach on the East Coast of Ireland. Its powdery sand stretches for 5km, and is backed by acres of sand dunes which are a favourite play area for children and campers. The bay itself is well protected from prevailing winds, making it a perfect spot for picnics, sunbathing (when we’re occasionally blessed with sunshine!), and surfers.
The problem is, because Brittas Bay is such a popular spot, it tends to suffer from quite a volume of litter pollution and vandalism. Our aim is to help the existing caretakers, Ray Hughes and Mick Ryan, with their impossible task of keeping on top of the litter problem. To this end, we organise regular beach cleanups which we advertise around the area, and encourage locals to participate, especially children. We believe that educating kids on environmental issues is extremely important, as studies show that children who are included in out-door activities pertaining to environmental issues are far less likely to grow up as litter offenders. It only makes sense!
We have full public liability insurance, and are backed by funding from An Taisce, and local business owners.
If you would like to join our efforts and partake in some healthy excersise on our beach cleanups, we’d be delighted to hear from you! Just drop us a comment or email us with your details, and we’ll contact you as soon as we can 🙂
If you would like to offer us some much needed funds to help us in our efforts (we organise environmental outings and fun family days out, too!), we would be delighted of your patronage!

Hello Paul and fellow Brittas volunteers!
Just emailing to congratulate you on this brilliant website! Id love to have a chat with someone about setting one up for Bray Coastcare Group. I think it is great how we could upload information on all coastcare groups in wicklow to help each other out!
All the best!
Shea.
No problem Shea. Kate is to be congratulated on the website. I am sure a chat with her would not go amiss. Congrats on your well deserved award.
God Bless
Paul

Myself and my boyfriend recently moved to Brittas Bay and as we walk the beach most days we would like to offer our help to keep it clean.
